The World Chambers Competition organized by the World
Chambers Federation (WCF), is the only global awards programme to recognize the
most innovative projects undertaken by chambers of commerce and industry from
around the world.
The Competition has been a major feature of the 7th World Chambers Congress in Mexico City, 8-10 June 2011. We would like to extend our congratulations to all the winners and finalists in this year's Competition.
Our international panel of judges was impressed by the great variety and
quality of projects and commented on the difficulty of choosing just
one winner for each category.
The winners of the 2011 World Chambers Competition were announced Friday 10 June during a special ceremony.

"I am honored to be the Chair of this year’s Competition. With so many high-calibre entries, the Competition has been very tough – making it all the more exciting. I look forward to seeing the finalists give their presentations in Mexico." said Peter Mihok, Chair of the 2011 World Chambers Competition
“We are very excited to see such a wide variety of projects proposed and we loved receiving all the impressive entries that came in from the hard work of our chambers,” said Gary Toebben, President & CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. “Innovation in business must start from the bottom up.”
Previous finalists and winners of this increasingly popular event
have experienced a significant impact on their local and national profile, and
on their influence, due to the recognition received for their participating
projects.
Life after the Competition
In the following success story, Lars-Kåre Legernes from Oslo Chamber of Commerce shares what happened to the INN - International Network of Norway after winning the 2009 Best Unconventional Project category.
"INN is still working as a one-stop-shop for companies recruiting expats in Norway. A major advantage of our services is that they are offered through the chamber, which gives our customers a strong sense of stability. We have four employees working in this unit, serving over 40 big companies. INN takes care of 150 to 250 expats arriving in the Oslo area every year in high- to middle-management positions. The service has expanded to include eight local chambers throughout the country. Thanks to what we offer, the cancellation of expat contracts in Norway has fallen from 15-20% to 4-5% for our clients. Winning the competition gave us valuable PR and new customers – setting an example for the Copenhagen Chamber of Commerce, which has since started a similar service."
