World-renowned international arbitrators are set to join lawyers, mediators, business people and academics at the 27th AAA/ICC/ICSID Joint Colloquium on International Arbitration on 17 November in Paris.Participants will discuss privilege in international arbitration, the role of amicable dispute resolution and other current international arbitration issues.
Hosted by the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the day-long conference will gather representatives of ICC, the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). It is the latest of 27 such joint events held annually since 1983 by each of the three organizations in turn.
John Beechey, Chairman of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, said: “I look forward to welcoming attendees from the international arbitration community to this important event in the arbitration calendar, which, this year, takes place in Paris. It is a perfect opportunity to stay in touch with the latest developments at ICC/AAA/ICDR and to hear more about hot topics in international arbitration.”
Speakers will cover topics such as the use of costs by arbitration tribunals in controlling the conduct of proceedings, and legal aid for impecunious parties. They will also discuss security for costs and the allocation of costs among parties and beyond the parties such as amici curiae.
State court intervention will also come under scrutiny, with talks on the challenges and liabilities for arbitrators and institutions, and the setting aside of awards. Further points in this session include anti-suit injunctions, provisional measures, and the section 1782 of title 28 of the United States Code.
So far, more than 190 people from Europe, the US, the Middle East and Latin America have signed up to attend.
