B20 innovation task force London meeting, 26 April 2013
The ICC G20 Advisory Group met with high-level officials and CEOs on 26 April 2013 in London, finalizing recommendations across three innovative sectors: energy, information technology and communication (ICT), and biotech/healthcare.
ICC G20 Advisory Group CEOs have been working closely with their Russian partners aim to develop a set of actionable business recommendations to G20 leaders that will foster innovation and drive economic growth while increasing standards of living.
Participants
Working with Skolkovo Foundation, the designated Russian lead of the B20 Innovation and Development task force, ICC G20 Advisory Group members and task force co-chairs Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Schneider Electirc and Kris Gopalakrishnan, Infosys participated in the high level CEO session in London.
They were joined by fellow task force co-chairs Vicktor Vekselberg, Skolkovo Foundation, Fulvio Conti, Enel, Paul Stoffels, Johson & Johnson and ICC Advisory group member Kimball Chen, Energy Transportation Group.
Outcomes
While various aspects were discussed, CEO leaders developed several cross-cutting themes to guide the finalization of policy recommendations including:
- The need for freer markets with fewer distortions through harmonization and stabilization of regulation, less subsidies and taxes
- Better access to technology and knowledge for innovation
- Increasing efficiency through enabling innovation, new business models and private-public partnership
- Access to all energy, ICT and healthcare: three sectors as major enablers, catalysts and drivers
Leading to B20 activities in St. Petersburg Economic Forum in June, ICC staff will be working with Skolkovo Foundation to reach out to B20 Task Force members and ICC G20 Advisory Group leads and produce a short set of policy recommendations -- based on the themes outlined above -- to present to G20 leaders.
