Chamber leaders from around the world helped the Limburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry select their “All Star Innovation Hero”, an award presented yesterday during the Creativity World Forum held in Hasselt, Belgium, 16-17 November 2011.

The ICC World Chambers Federation was pleased to partner with Belgium’s VOKA Limburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry using the special occasion of the Creativity World Forum to spotlight the important role chambers of commerce play in their community, creating and stimulating a business environment where innovative and creative companies can be successful.

Since 2008, the Limburg Chamber has annually recognized the most innovative company in the province. Three past award winners were presented to WCF General Council chamber leaders to decide who merited the overall title “All Star Innovation Hero”.

ICC World Chambers Federation Director Anthony Parkes presented a trophy to the winning organization, Melotte during the award ceremony.

“With 2,150 participants, from business and chambers and more than 500 subscribed to a waiting list, the event was a major success. Thanks to the partnership with the World Chambers Federation, and Mr Parkes in particular, we were able, as a local chamber, to seize the moment and to put both the local and international spotlights on our region,” said Johann Leten, CEO of the Limburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Three local innovation heroes faced a jury composed of directors of federations and chambers of commerce and industry worldwide. They decided that Melotte – a global solution provider specialized in Research & Development, Engineering, Manufacturing and Service of high precision mechatronics solutions, tools and dyes, hyper compressor parts and process automation – had the biggest potential to become a world player.

Chambers of Commerce and Industry all over the world share the same goal: creating a dynamic business environment and supporting member companies to help them grow. Partnerships like we set up with the WCF really help to emphasize what chambers of commerce are all about.”

Since its foundation in 1860, The Limburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry mission has been to create the best possible environment for successful entrepreneurship, and to contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of its region. The chamber has over 2,750 members and is part of the alliance between Flemish Employers Association and eight Flemish Chambers of Commerce known as the Voka Chambers of Commerce Flanders bringing together 17,000 member companies.

The Creativity World Forum is an annual conference on business creativity, offering a dynamic programme featuring inspiring speakers and workshops. Speakers at this year’s event included film director Oliver Stone, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, author Keith Sawyer.
