Participants will study ICC Arbitration proceedings through the simulation of a mock case in interactive sessions that are limited to 50 participants. Philippe Leboulanger, Co-chairman of the seminar, Founding Partner of Leboulanger & Associes, France, and Member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law, said: “ICC Advanced PIDA trainings have become established as a respected forum for international arbitration professionals.”
“As the first bilingual PIDA training to be held overseas in the MENA region, this seminar will offer a unique multicultural environment for legal professionals to learn about the ICC Rules and find out more about the positioning of ICC Arbitration in the Arab world,” he added.
Leading experts in international commercial arbitration will provide participants with a first-hand experience and understanding of the ICC Arbitration procedure through practical sessions.
Small working groups of 10 participants will collaboratively prepare and draft documents that are submitted to the Arbitral Tribunal. They will also learn how to select and appoint appropriate arbitrators, and identify the issues and the role of the ICC Court Secretariat at the start of the arbitral proceedings.
International Court of Arbitration regional director for Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa Sami Houerbi will act as Co-Chairman of the seminar. “ICC PIDA trainings are composed of case studies and role plays that really allow participants to learn how to act in situations they are most likely to encounter in arbitral proceedings,” he said.
“From formulating the initial request to applying the final award, the dynamic seminar will cover the entire arbitration process, giving trainees a realistic preview of international arbitration procedures,” he stated.
The three-day seminar will be held in English and Arabic, with simultaneous interpretation. Early registration is strongly recommended due to limited capacity.
