ICC to hold its first antitrust compliance workshop in the Maghreb region
- Casablanca, 10 October 2014
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ICC Morocco invite business, government officials and experts in antitrust law and policy to attend a joint antitrust compliance workshop to be held in Casablanca on 31 October 2014.
The event builds upon the 6th ICC-International Competition Network (ICN) Roundtable on Competition Policy held in Marrakesh on 22 April 2014. Conducted in both English and French, the Marrakesh Roundtable marked the first anniversary of the ICC Antitrust Compliance Toolkit. The event provided an opportunity for the ICC Commission on Competition to update ICN delegates on its work in compliance and advocacy since the launch of the Toolkit and present its French translation to Francophone participants from the African region.
Designed by business for business, the Toolkit provides valuable antitrust tools for companies of all sizes wishing to build or reinforce a robust compliance programme, while taking into account both the risks a company faces and resources available.
Caroline Inthavisay, Policy Manager of the ICC Commission on Competition, said: “In light of the high level of interest the ICC Antitrust Compliance Toolkit garnered in Marrakesh in April, it was very important for ICC to organize a compliance workshop in the Maghreb region so that the Toolkit and its key principles could be properly introduced, explained, and discussed. We look forward to exchanging insights with local antitrust experts on antitrust compliance programmes and practices.”
The half-day seminar coincides with the recent revision of the Moroccan Competition Law and will feature a presentation of the new provisions by the Competition Council of Morocco and its implications for business.
Anny Tubbs, Co Vice-Chair of the ICC Task Force on Compliance and Advocacy, will open the event with a presentation of the French version of the Toolkit, Boîte à outils ICC sur les programmes de conformités aux règles de concurrence, released on 27 February 2014 in Paris. The seminar will continue with a practical case study on Risk Assessment, followed by a roundtable discussion on corporate compliance programmes moderated by Patrick Hubert, a Vice-Chair of the ICC Commission on Competition.
This is the 11th workshop organized by the ICC Commission on Competition since the publication of the Toolkit in April 2013. The event will take place in Casablanca at the Technopark from 9 am to 1 pm on Friday, 31 October 2014. Discussions will be held in French and participants will receive a French copy of the ICC Toolkit.
