One-year countdown to 9th World Chambers Congress begins

To mark the occasion, Congress organizers held a press conference in Turin, Italy to present a snapshot of the latest Congress developments. The briefing, which took place yesterday at Palazzo Birago – headquarters of the Torino Chamber of Commerce – featured President of Torino Chamber Alessandro Barberis and Director of the Torino Chamber Guido Bolatto who were joined by the Secretary General of ICC Italy Maria Beatrice Deli.

To commence the countdown, ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF) and Torino Chamber launched the Congress website, a one-stop portal providing the latest Congress news featuring information on every aspect of the event from the venue and programme, to sponsorship opportunities. The website is accessible on mobile devices and tablets making it even easier to stay informed.

WCF and Torino Chamber also announced an agreement with Expo 2015, the corporation constituted to fulfil commitments undertaken by the Italian Republic in relation to the 2015 Universal Exposition, Expo Milano 2015 to take place 1 May – 31 October 2015.

“Given the timing and geographical proximity of the two world-class events, the agreement has been entered into with the aim of maximizing and leveraging the opportunities that can be generated between the 9th World Chambers Congress and Expo Milano 2015,” said WCF Chairman Peter Mihok. “Working with Expo Milano 2015, there is an obvious advantage not only to showcase the extensive global chamber network and business membership but to bring to them all of the advantages of the Expo attendance. The potential multiplier effect of a chamber of commerce using the opportunity to develop business ties between the host nation and market to their own constituency is unquestionable.”

Alessandro Barberis, President of Torino Chamber added: “The Expo 2015 accord is a great achievement. It will allow us to give 9th World Chambers Congress delegates the opportunity to meet with and build a network of contacts throughout the duration of the event that is unique in so many ways in terms of innovation, content and formula. All this will be happening just a very short distance from Torino. The agreement will also give the Congress greater visibility given that the event is one of the Expo’s lateral qualifying programmes: an extremely positive opportunity that will bring fruitful exchanges and build new ties on both sides”.

Commitments of Universal Exposition 2015 include offering a 20% reduced Expo entry rate to 9th World Chambers Congress delegates.

The 9th world Chambers Congress will take place in Turin, Italy from 10-12 June 2015.
