Vienna ICC Banking Commission Meeting 2013
The ICC Commission on Banking meets twice a year bringing together bankers, business leaders, finance experts, lawyers and government officials to promote dialogue, make policy recommendations, and develop rules to enhance trade finance practices throughout the world. Past meetings have attracted wide audiences and have been extremely useful vehicles for advancing trade finance and business interests across the globe.
The ICC Banking Commission gathered in Vienna from 21-25 October 2013 under the working theme of: “Global regulations and compliance in trade”. Vienna has been of a great importance to the history of the ICC Banking Commission. The first ICC rules on letters of credit, the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP) were adopted at the ICC Banking Commission meeting in Vienna in 1933, it is thus fitting that we return to Vienna 80 years later to mark the anniversary of this historic accomplishment. The UCP remain to date, the most successful set of private rules for trade ever developed.
