Report on the ICC Georgia International Arbitration Conference
On 9 October 2014, the ICC International Court of Arbitration, ICC Georgia and Gvinadze & Partners co-organized the first major International Arbitration Conference of Georgia and the wider region at Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel in Tbilisi.
Members of the ICC Court, arbitration practice heads of lead
international and regional law firms and internationally renowned arbitration
practitioners spoke at the conference which was sponsored by USAID/EWMI-JILEP
and attended by over 150 representatives of Georgian and international business
and legal circles.
The participants were welcomed by the Georgian Member of the
ICC Court Nick Gvinadze, Minister of Justice of Georgia Thea Tsulukiani, ICC
Court Vice-President Vladimir Khvalei, ICC Georgia Chairman Fady Asly, and
USAID Democracy and Governance Office Director Danielle Reiff.
was concluded by a roundtable exploring the prospects of Georgia as a seat of
international arbitration with participation of Deputy Secretary General of the
ICC Court Jose Ricardo Feris, Vladimir Khvalei, Nick Gvinadze, Louis Flannery
of Stephenson Harwood and Joseph Tirado of Winston & Strawn.
