Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, TurkeyOzimek
In an interdependent economic system, a global economic crisis leads to deterioration to some extent in each country’s economy. Prior to the 2009 crisis, Turkey’s unemployment problem needed significant care, yet after the crisis unemployment became a deeper problem that should be resolved to support vulnerable sectors. The main objectives of the project are the preservation, the development and the increase of the employment by enabling individuals to benefit from vocational and technical education institutions.
"As Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, we honored by the appreciation for our OZIMEK Project with the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project Award. It was a pleasure for us to compete among the highly valuable projects of other finalists. We are happy to share our know-how and expertise in this project with other Chambers and would like to maintain our communication, which is an essential objective of this platform. Thanks to the encouragement and motivation, we will commit ourselves to develop further projects to serve our region in the most efficient way as well as to ensure rise of the volume in global trade and business. We are looking forward to the World Chambers Congress 2013."

Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce, New Zealand"Recover Canterbury" - The role of a Chamber of Commerce when disaster strikes
Within just a few hours of the 2010 September 4 earthquake, the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce (the Employers’ Chamber) was mobilized to operate as a key reference point for the region’s businesses. This project demonstrates the unique and vital role a Chamber of Commerce can play in an overall goal of protecting and enhancing the business community. This program has shown that the valuable relationships formed before the disaster enabled the chamber to respond rapidly, sensibly and creatively.
"The Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce has been an active and critical player in optimising Business outcomes in the devastating Christchurch Earthquakes. The Chamber has developed a series of templates, systems and processes which have application for any Chamber worldwide, in the context of any major disaster. We are very willing to share these with all members of the International Chamber family. "

Best Unconventional Project
Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Canada"Funny Money"
The Chamber believes that it is a paramount role of our organizations to instill in the next generation of National and International Global Leaders strong financial literacy values. Since its inception in 2005, the program has been presented to over 400,000 high school aged children across Canada. It speaks to the students on recognizing the amount of money they have flowing into and out of their lives, to the nature of debt management and to the fact that putting small bits of money away will lead them to a path of financial security for the rest of their lives.
"It was a great privilege to simply be nominated as one of the world finalists along with such great Chamber programs from all over the globe, to have the judges select our “Funny Money” program as the world’s best, is just way over the top. We are now getting ready to launch our program internationally, thanks to the World Chambers Federation, maybe we will affect global change with the power of the Chamber network. Thank you for this incredible and distinguished honour."
