Children in Turkey participate in educational programs aimed at improving hygiene and health. |
|
Low consumption of toilet paper in Turkey has resulted in the high prevalence of certain diseases. According to Turkish Ministry of Health data, in the last decade approximately 589,000 people have been subject to typhoid fever, dysentery and jaundice. The Solo Primary School Personal Hygiene Education Program targets primary school students, teachers and principals as well as the National Education Directorates of cities and towns and emphasizes the importance of using tissue paper to reduce the spread of these diseases. It includes specialist visits to schools to deliver hygiene education programs, evaluations measuring effectiveness and free toilet paper samples distributed door-to-door in the affected districts.
