Chairmanship and Secretary General

The ICC World Council elects the Chairman and Vice-Chairman for two-year terms. The Chairman, his immediate predecessor and the Vice-Chairman form the Chairmanship. The Secretary General heads the International Secretariat and works closely with national committees to carry out ICC's work programme. The Secretary General is appointed by the World Council upon the recommendation of the Executive Board.

Harold (Terry) McGraw III became Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce on 1 July 2013. He is Chairman, President and CEO of McGraw Hill Financial, one of the leading financial intelligence companies in the world, with iconic brands such as Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, S&P Dow Jones Indices, S&P Capital IQ, Platts and JD Power.

Mr McGraw is also Chairman of the United States Council for International Business and Chairman of the US President’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.

Sunil Bharti Mittal became Vice-Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce on 1 July 2013. He is Founder, Chairman and Group CEO of Bharti Enterprises and the Chairman of Bharti Airtel. Bharti Enterprises is one of India’s leading business groups with interests in retail, realty, financial services and agri-products, with leading global telecom companies operating in India, South-Asia and Africa.

Honorary Chairman, ICC

Gerard Worms became Honorary Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce on 1 July 2013, after serving as Chairman since March 2011.

Mr Worms is also Chairman of ICC France, Vice-Chairman of the investment bank Rothschild Europe, and Honorary Chairman of the privately-run centre for economic research Coe-Rexecode. He has chaired ICC France since 2006.

Jean-Guy Carrier

Secretary General, Governance

Jean-Guy Carrier became Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce on 24 January 2011. He is also Director of Programmes for ICC’s Research Foundation.

Mr Carrier has initiated and led research-based publishing and public information programmes for various international and national organizations, most recently for the World Trade Organization (WTO), from 1996 to 2008.
