Commission leaders are appointed by the ICC Chairman for a three-year period, renewable at the Chairman’s discretion.
Son of a shipowner in the German seaport of Emden, Mr Johannes Fritzen has a wealth of experience in shipping. He completed studies in Business Administration and spent his trainee years in ship broker and short sea shipping companies in Hamburg and Oslo before joining a shipowner in Oakland (USA).
In 1977 he joined Volkswagen’s Wolfsburger Transportgesellschaft (now Volkswagen Logistics). With the company then responsible for all seaborne shipments of Volkswagen and Audi, Mr Fritzen took over more and more duties in other areas of transport and logistics. In 1988 he became President and held worldwide accountability for inbound, inter-Volkswagen and outbound cargo transport activities within Volkswagen Group.
Mr Fritzen left Volkswagen Group in 2006, leaving a transport company with an annual turnover of €1.6b plus €500m responsibility for transport budgets of other Volkswagen subsidiaries. Straight after that he accepted, amongst others, a job as Advisor to the “K” Line Group, a leading Japanese shipping company with a far-fledged portfolio of shipping activities.
Mr Fritzen represents the “K” Line Group as President of the European Freight and Logistics Leaders Forum and as Chairman of the Commission on Transport and Logistics at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. Mr Fritzen is also member of a number of Advisory Committees and Advisor to a Norwegian software company.
Mr Tung has been a Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (“OOCL”) since March 2006 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer of OOCL in January 2009. He is also a Director of Cargosmart (Hong Kong) Limited. Prior to 2006, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited.
