The Government of India and the various industry bodies in India are not leaving any stone unturned to address the issue of piracy. Despite these efforts, India's IPR enforcement is cast in a poor light. Thus, for wider dissemination of these efforts and presentation of the state of affairs in intellectual property to the world at large, FICCI launched the an "Anti-piracy Coordination Cell" in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The aim of the Cell is to synergize the efforts of Industry and GOI in fighting against the menace of piracy.

Key achievements

Some of the key achievements made by the Cell are:

1. Issuance of notifications to all multiplexes/theatres by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with a mandate to show FICCI's anti-piracy posters/film before a movie is screened. This is a milestone achieved towards spreading mass awareness.
2. Various interactions organized by FICCI in association with key stakeholders has made recommendations to bring in effective enforcement to curb piracy.
3. Developed anti-piracy posters and anti-piracy film which are utilized for mass awareness.
4. FICCI's interaction with Gujarat National Law University has led to inclusion of practical exercises with a focus on piracy. These practical exercises help in sensitizing youth and in inculcating respect of IP in the minds of youth.
5. FICCI in association with Indian Intellectual Property office also organizes debates amongst schools/colleges every year during the World IP Day aiming to increase awareness about importance of creativity/innovation by not only being creators themselves but also respect others creativity by not indulging in the activity of piracy.
6. MOU has been signed with leading global business association to set up a state specific Anti-Piracy Campaign.
