Anti-counterfeiting experts to gather in China
Paris, 23 February 2007

ICC’s BASCAP initiative is one of the forum’s global partners

Business experts and government officials from around the world will meet at the Global Innovation and IP Forum in Beijing on 27-28 March to build strategies to fight the increasing problem of counterfeit goods and piracy of intellectual property rights. Hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, together with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the forum will bring together senior business experts and high-level government officials from China, the United States, the European Union, Japan, Korea, Brazil, India and a number of other countries, to discuss current trends regarding the relationship between innovation and intellectual property; exchange best practices in the area of corporate IP management; and develop solutions to persistent global IP protection and enforcement challenges. ICC’s BASCAP (Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy) is one of the forum’s global partners, along with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Confederation of European Business (BUSINESSEUROPE), the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), the International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF) of Japan, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) and the U.S. Information Technology Office. Among Chinese government supporters, are China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Market Order Rectification Office (MORO), State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
