FICCI-NIAPC has been setup with the objective to create awareness regarding the menace of piracy and counterfeiting and to take initiatives to fight this scourge. It aims to promote awareness of the dangers and consequences of piracy and to strengthen the capacities of the enforcement system in association with professional bodies, training institutions and concerned departments of the Government.
The National Initiative aims to take the fight against piracy and counterfeiting as a “National Cause” and in furtherance of this objective, it will take up the following initiatives:

Seek to support the Judiciary keeping in view the seriousness of the issue by organizing workshops with the judicial fraternity for discussions on relevant issues.

On the enforcement side, the Initiative seeks to involve the officials from both central and state governments to get greater participation from their side.

Conducting mass awareness campaign against piracy and counterfeiting through interactive events, PR and advertising campaigns.

Organizing cross-city seminars and conferences for industry and other user groups to spread the awareness against pirated and counterfeited products.

Make recommendations to Government with regard to tightening and amendment of laws and enforcement, including setting up of fast track courts for trying IP crimes.

Work with similar organization across the world and contribute to each other’s studies and analysis of the legislation, regulation and other measures taken to combat piracy and counterfeiting.

Interaction with multilateral and other bodies (eg. WIPO) to spread the awareness on IP issues.

Working with educational institutes and the Ministry of HRD, GOI to raise the “appreciation levels” of Intellectual Property amongst the community of scientists, researchers, engineers and the student community at large.
