For 2005, MPA reports that preliminary estimated losses in Italy due to audiovisual piracy (including both hard goods and internet) were $161 million, and the estimated piracy level was 22%. (2) adobe pdf file

Luxury Goods:
bullet 

As much as 20 % of the clothes bought in Italy are fakes, according to a report issued by the Italian consumers association Intesa dei Consumatori in April 2004. Fake shoes and clothes reached EUR 3.13 billion (US$3.705 billion) in terms of value in 2002, and accounted for nearly 21% of all counterfeits produced and marketed in Italy in the same period. (3)

Music:

Recent surveys showed that almost 5 million people are downloading music from the most famous P2P platforms. The estimated music piracy level in Italy for 2005 was 20%, a slight decline from the prior year. Estimated 2005 losses due to record and music piracy in Italy amounted to $40 million. Software:

bulletItaly lost $1,564 million (8th most of countries surveyed) to software piracy in 2005. This is largely attributed to PC shipments outpacing software growth.
