Why BASIS is active at the IGF

BASIS brings business experience, expertise and priorities from across sectors and geographies to the important discussions on Internet governance issues, and communicates with other stakeholders including government, civil society, technical experts, and international organizations

The information on this page is intended to help you plan your participation in this year's IGF.

What BASIS is doing at IGF

  • DAILY BUSINESS BRIEFINGS
8:00-8:50 every day 15-18 November, room TBD
A business briefing will be held each morning during the forum from 8:00 - 8:50.
The briefings are open to all business participants, including business representatives who are not ICC-BASIS members.
Details regarding the morning briefings will be sent via email before the event to those members who have confirmed their participation and will be made available on the screens that display scheduling information on-site.
  • Workshop "Internet governance: economic recovery and growth"
    17 November, 9:30-11:00
Workshop Room 1, Sinai, Maritim Sharm el-Sheikh International Congress Center

Co-organized by ICC/BASIS and Lithuania, the workshop will be an interactive exchange on how addressing Internet governance issues appropriately can stimulate economic recovery and growth. By putting in place the necessary legal, policy and regulatory approaches that stimulate innovation, infrastructure and investment in the Internet (and ICTs) economies can be boosted. These issues will be addressed through a discussion of case studies, best practices, and substantive examples.

This workshop will link to capacity building, development issues, and a range of the broad IGF themes

  • Booth in IGF village
BASIS has reserved a booth to display our brochures and materials. BASIS members are welcome to bring their materials to display at this booth as well. Space will be limited, and we advise that organizations with substantial information to display contact the IGF Secretariat to secure a separate booth.

Visit the ICC-BASIS booth at the IGF village for more information or to meet ICC-BASIS representatives.
  • Business participation
ICC and BASIS leadership and members will deliver speeches during the opening and closing ceremonies of the forum. Business experts from the ICC-BASIS network will participate in main panel discussions, workshops and other events during the IGF to ensure the voice of business is heard. Business participants will also be active in open dialogues and be available for informal discussions with other participants.

  • Video messages
In the lead up to the IGF, ICC-BASIS members and leadership have submitted video messages to the IGF YouTube channel.
