The Republic of Albania has become the 72nd country to effectively implement the international ATA Carnet system that allows for the temporary duty and tax-free export or import goods for up to one year.
A further expansion of the ATA Carnet chain can be foreseen in the near future following Trinidad and Tobago’s recent ratification of the International Convention for the temporary admission of goods – also known as the Istanbul Convention.
The ATA Carnet System is set to expand on 16 May, when Mexico will join this international system, which reduces paperwork and costs for businesses travelling with goods, following new members such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United Arab Emirates.
