Rwanda, new party to New York Convention
The Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards will enter into force without any reservation in Rwanda on 29 January 2009. Rwanda is the 143rd party to the New York Convention. Rwanda’s signature of the New York Convention highlights its continuing effort to attract foreign investors. In 2006, it renewed its investment law.

ICC International Arbitration in Russia
The International Court of Arbitration and ICC Russia will co-organize a conference in Moscow on 5 December 2008, which will give the participants the opportunity to hear experts analyze recent trends in international commercial arbitration and to gain better understanding of arbitration as practiced in Russia. Mediation training in Hong Kong

Asia Office of the ICC Court Secretariat opens soon in Hong Kong
A conference on "International Arbitration - East Asia Comes Of Age" on 19 November in Hong Kong jointly organised by the ICC, Hong Kong Department of Justice, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and ICC Hong Kong will mark the opening of the Asia Office of the ICC International Court of Arbitration Secretariat in Hong Kong. The Asia Office will assist the ICC International Court of Arbitration in administering arbitrations based in the region using state-of-the-art communications and case management technology.

International Arbitration Seminar in Ireland
Simon Greenberg, Deputy Secretary General of ICC International Court of Arbitration, will speak at the International Arbitration Seminar co-organised by ICC Ireland and Chambers of Ireland, on 3 October 2008 in Dublin. A new Chairman of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) was elected today at the meeting of ICC's World Council, which brought together more than 130 business members from 57 countries around the world. Record activity in 2007
The number of new cases filed with the ICC Court in 2007 totalled 599, a figure unprecedented in the Court’s 85-year history. Early statistics for 2007 also show a rise of almost 20% in the number of awards approved by the Court, compared with 2006.
