Arbitration law reform in Croatia
The Croatian parliament adopted a new law on arbitration in September 2001. It is the result of several years of consultation and discussion in the arbitratio n community. Although largely inspired by the Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration promulgated by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), it also reflects the influences of arbitration legislation in other countries, and of local factors. By liberalizing its arbitration law, Croatia, which is already a party to key international conventions on arbitration, has given a fillip to the development of its international trade.
