Dramatic rise in web-based fraud reported

New figures released by ICC's Commercial Crime Services show that web-based fraud is rising dramatically, accounting for two thirds of all the fraud cases CCS investigated for its business members in 2000.

Seal of approval for ICC-Interpol collaboration
London, 19 December 2000   Interpol's General Assembly has given its seal of approval to a cooperation agreement with the International Chamber of Commerce. The resolution will strengthen ties between law enforcement and the private sector in the international fight against commercial crime.

Brussels, 31 October, 2000  Calling on the European Commission to push for greater liberalization of air transport, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has said European airlines' proposal for a Transatlantic Common Aviation Area offered a practical way forward.

Paris, 13 June 2000  World business tax experts have called on governments to accept compulsory international arbitration to resolve cross-border tax disputes, particularly those arising from conflicting interpretation of double taxation conventions.

Leading judge calls for new measures to combat cybercrime
London, 18 May 2000   A leading British judge has called for a sweeping range of measures to combat cybercrime, including the recognition of computer hacking as a crime in international law and a new multilateral treaty under which cybercriminals could be prosecuted for offences committed anywhere in the world.

Personal e-mails at work help spread Love Bug
London, 10 May 2000   In the wake of the Love Bug virus, ICC's Cybercrime Unit today urged companies to discourage employees from using company computers for personal e-mails and advised organizations to tighten security on every system linked to their network.

Funding sought for "Don't fake it" campaign
Paris, 23 March 2000  Organizers of a Europe-wide campaign to label counterfeit goods as 'uncool' are asking industry and consumer groups to support the venture that will target the youth market.
