Arbitration from the client’s perspective
Paris, 15 October 2007

Making the right choices is important when negotiating dispute resolution provisions

When negotiating dispute resolution provisions in an international contract, it is important for a company to be aware of the choices and the central role it can play in arbitration to tailor the procedure to its needs.

On 22 October, ICC will offer a one-day training course for business professionals on how to get the most from international commercial arbitration.

Arbitration: a corporate viewpoint will provide a unique opportunity to share experiences and interact with distinguished international general counsel, legal directors and arbitrators in an informal and interactive forum.

“When it comes to considering arbitration choices, it is important to be well-informed of the options,” said Laetitia de Montalivet, Director of ICC Events. “This event will help industry professionals make the right choices and get the most out of arbitration.”

Topics to be addressed include:

• Drafting the dispute resolution clause in contracts
• How to go about choosing counsel and an arbitrator
• The role of the manager in an arbitration proceeding
• Foreseeing and controlling the costs of arbitration
• How to recover amounts awarded
• The manager’s choices in contract negotiations

Open, interactive debate will be welcome and participants may submit questions in advance so that sessions can be customized to attendees’ interests.

Held under the auspices of the ICC Institute of World Business Law and in cooperation with the ICC Court of International Arbitration, the event is organized with the support of the Association of Corporate Council Europe, Association Française des Juristes d’Entreprise, Federation of Enterprises in Belgium and European Company Lawyers Association.

In order to encourage a high level of participation and interaction, Arbitration: a corporate viewpoint is limited to 40 participants. Early booking is recommended.

The event will take place at ICC headquarters in Paris.
