2009 World Chambers Competition winners announced

The winners of the 2009 World Chambers Competition were announced today during a special ceremony

The winners of the 2009 World Chambers Competition were announced today during a special ceremony held at the 6th World Chamber Congress in Kuala Lumpur.

 

The winners in each category are:

 

Best Unconventional Project: Oslo Chamber of Commerce for their International Network of Norway project

 

Best Networking Project: Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce for their Post-Tsunami Chamber Cooperation project

 

Best International Project: Torino Chamber of Commerce for their project From Concept to Car

 

Best Small Business Project: Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Madagascar for their project Dual Vocational Training for Madagascar

 

Best project from a Chamber in a Developing Country: Izmir Chamber of Commerce for the Izmir University of Economics project

 

This year’s winners will for the first time receive prizes, generously donated from chamber members.

 

The prizes include:

 

- $US 1,000 for each winner, from the Chairman of the judging panel, Avijit Mazumdar

- A week's accommodation at the Cap Juluca resort hotel, from the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry

- A vacation package at the Phinda Private Game Reserve secured with KZNTourism by The   Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry

- A vacation package in Dubai including return flights with Emirates and a three-night’s stay at a Jumeirah hotel for two people, from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry

- 3 days/2 nights at Frangipani Langwaki Resort and spa, courtesy of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers

- Mexico City Acapulco Experience for 2; Los Cabos Golf Experience for 1; Puerto Vallarta Resort Experience for 1; from the Mexico City Chamber of Commerce

 

The World Chambers Competition, organized by the ICC World Chambers Federation, is the only global awards programme to recognize the most innovative projects undertaken by chambers of commerce and industry from around the world. The 2009 edition of the World Chambers Competition attracted 48 entries from 31 countries.
