ICC to hold training on drafting international contracts
Paris, 6 January 2010

The training will be held in Paris from 1 to 4 February

Drafting international contracts can be tricky, necessitating special skills and techniques to avoid loopholes that can eventually lead to serious problems.

In order to help legal directors, corporate counsel, lawyers and other legal professionals avoid the pitfalls in international contract drafting, the ICC Institute of World Business Law is organizing a four-day PIDA training programme on negotiating and drafting such contracts.

"The PIDA training program on international contract negotiation, drafting and disputes attracts a wide variety of international professionals,” remarked Kristine Karsten, Partner, Affina Legal, France and the Chair for this seminar.

“Using a mock case based on actual situations and with the assistance of a panel of highly experienced lawyers and other trainers, participants will share and refine their negotiating and drafting skills, insight, experiences, techniques and tactics,” Ms Karsten added. “This year's program is based on an international construction contract and its pitfalls.”

The training, to be held in Paris from 1 to 4 February, will focus on the main problems that arise in international contracts, with particular attention given to avoiding disputes.

To ensure an interactive discussion and small working groups for the study of the mock case, the training is limited to approximately 40 participants. Early booking is recommended.

The course can be credited towards training under the “taxe de formation professionelle” in France. It has also received the official CNB approval. Participants are eligible for 23.5 CLE credits under New York’s approved jurisdiction procedures, 19.5 MCLE credits under the State Bar of California, and 19.5 CPD hours under the Law Society of the Bar of England and Wales.
