Building cooperation in Africa
Business investment and
humanitarian challenges
6 December 2001, Paris
Introduction
Venue
ICC International Headquarters, Paris - France
Objective
This conference will bring together business and humanitarian organization leaders
to initiate a much-needed dialogue about the most sweeping humanitarian concerns
affecting Africa.
The discussions will provide
an opportunity for business leaders with operations or interests in the region
to understand more clearly the problems of conflict, refugees, reconstruction,
health - including the challenge of dealing with HIV/AIDS - and the role that
business can play in responding effectively to them.
The objective is to examine
the relationship between business investment and these critical issues - their
implications for business, how business can contribute to positive solutions,
and how cooperation with humanitarian organizations can be both synergistic
and mutually beneficial.
Discussions
will focus on
- Conflict, peace-making
and stabilization
- Refugees and reconstruction
- Promoting health in
Africa
- Dealing with HIV/AIDS
Participants
Discussion topics will be of particular interest to mid-to-senior-level business/finance
executives with operations in Africa or who may be interested in business investment
there, as well as humanitarian organization leaders working in the region.
