Supply chain security and trade facilitation: Challenges and Opportunities for international business

14 -15 October 2002

Programme Practical information Registration

Objective:
In response to the increasing incidents of cross-border organized crime and the threat of terrorism, the World Customs Organization has adopted a Resolution on "Security and Facilitation of the International Trade Supply Chain". What does this mean for the international business community?

This symposium will explore fully the possible impacts, challenges and opportunities facing the international business community as a result of the new emphasis on security and trade facilitation. The discussions will allow participants to review the latest developments relating to increased security and to establish strategies to deal with the impacts on their business. This event will be the ideal opportunity for business and customs leaders to share ideas, identify concerns, and develop partnerships to examine potential solutions.

The programme will consist of a combination of keynote addresses and plenary sessions, which will be structured to provide an opportunity and incentive for active discussion among participants on practical problems concerning security and trade facilitation.

Discussions will focus on:
  • Ensuring security and facilitation of the international trade supply chain
  • Identifying opportunities for Customs/business partnerships
  • Impacts on global logistics and supply chain security
  • Implementing a Customs framework, best practices and technology
  • Who should attend:
This symposium will be of particular interest to business executives, high-level Customs officials and representatives from government and non-governmental organizations involved in international trade and transport.

    Organized by:
