Rohner Textil

Millennium Business Award for Environmental Achievement

Rohner Textil

Swiss-based Rohner Textil have an enemy: waste.

They operate a company whose aim is to manufacture a commercially-viable product with zero-waste. As the creators of the compostable upholstery fabric, "Climatex Lifecycle", Rohner have sparked a worldwide revolution in office furniture and public transport upholstery.

Pioneering the development of a fabric which soaks up and dissipates moisture - hence producing climate controlled seating comfort - Rohner have come up with a textile product which is wholly compostable. They have also been careful to select dye yarn chemicals which will have minimum impact on biological lifecycles.

Based in Heerbrugg and with a workforce of 30, the textile manufacturer aims to become a sustainable company producing all products with no waste and no harm to humans and the environment.
