"The Tokyo Electric
Power Co. (TEPCO) firmly believes that we, as a business entity, should be responsible
for environmental protection and take a voluntary and pro-active approach to
it. We understand that such was the ICC's philosophy that led to the creation
of its Business Charter for Sustainable Development (April 1991), which TEPCO
subscribed to right after it was launched. Below are some of the examples of
our achievements for embodying the guidance given in the Charter in our business
activities:
- Starting the annual publication
of TEPCO's Environmental Action Report in 1992,
- Introducing EMS based
on the ISO 14001 standards throughout the entire corporation in 1996, and
- Participating in Keidanren
Voluntary Action Plan on the Environment through FEPC (Federation of Electric
Power Companies), in 1996."
