R. V. Kanoria
Mr R.V.Kanoria, with an MBA (Honours) from IMD, Switzerland, and Advanced Management Programme from Wharton, USA, has over three decades of experience in the fields of chemicals, textiles and jute industries.
Mr. Kanoria was elected as Vice President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), after serving its Executive Committee for 17 years. During this period, he headed several Joint Business Councils, including India-Australia, India-New Zealand, India-Netherlands and India-Taiwan JBCs. He has also chaired several Committees and has been a part of the official Indian government delegations for the WTO Inter Ministerial Meetings. He is the vice-chair of the Commission on International Trade and Investment Policy of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris. He is the Vice President of ICC India. He is also a member of the Governing Council of the World Chlorine Council.
He is a past Chairman of the Indian Jute Mills’ Association and the Indian Cotton Mills’ Federation. He is a National Council Member of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and also chairs its National Committee on WTO & Trade Agreements. He is also a Member of the Managing Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHD), besides heading its Economic Affairs Committee.
He is on the Board of Cholamandalam DBS Finance Limited and Governing Board of Population Foundation of India, besides on the Board of several other companies. He is an Advisor to the Board of Operation Smile (NGO Organisation with Headquarters in the State of Virginia, USA) in India. This organization has been working since 1982 in corrective surgeries for disfigured children with special focus on facial deformities.
He has had several speaking assignments and media articles to his credit. Most recently, he was a featured speaker at The CEO Insights Forum at Chongqing in October, 2005, and spoke in the Session on “Extending Corporate Boundaries : Assuming Social Responsibility, Creating Harmony, Managing the Environment. He was also a featured speaker at BusinessWeek’s : Middle-East Asia Leadership Forum in Dubai in May 2007 and spoke at a Session on “Imagine a World : Aligning Strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility”. He was a panelist at the International Chambers of Commerce’s World Chambers Congress Session on “Threats to multilaterialism” held in July, 2007 in Istanbul.
He is the Chairman & Managing Director of Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Ltd. (KCI), which is a leading manufacturer of chemical intermediates manufacturing Chlor-Alkalies and Ethanol and Methanol based products. KCI is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified Company and is a recipient of several awards in the field of environment management.
