Business went to Johannesburg with a range of partnerships for sustainable development. Some of these partnerships are listed below.
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP)
This new public-private energy initiative was launched at the Summit. Shell Solar introduced The Million Solar Homes Fund, which aims to deliver basic electricity to rural households in developing countries around the world through solar power.

African Energy Fund
This partnership initiated by Eskom channels funding from the private sector and government donors into energy and electricity infrastructure projects in Africa.

World Bank Global Gas Flaring Reduction Initiative
This public-private partnership involving Shell aims to reduce the flaring and venting of gas associated with the extraction of crude oil.

Investment Advisory Council (IAC)

Community Development Tools

Marine Stewardship Council Delivers Sustainable Fisheries
Based on an original partnership between Unilever and the WWF, this ongoing initiative is now delivering worldwide recognition of sustainable fisheries. Some 40 fisheries have been certified based on their sustainable fisheries practices.

Global Mining Initiative (GMI)
Nine leading mining companies participated in the GMI to identify the mining industry's role in sustainable development. A key component of the GMI, was an independent, stakeholder research programme that was undertaken by the International Institute for Environment and Development called the Mining, Minerals, and Sustainable Development Project (MMSD).

Recycling a Million Lives
