Communications and Media Relations Officer/Assistant

ICC is recruiting a Communications and Media Relations Officer/Assistant to join its Communications Department from mid-May 2008 to September 2008 while a full-time staff member is on maternity leave. 

This varied role includes press relations, website maintenance, media monitoring and office administration. Working as part of a small but dynamic team in Paris, the ideal candidate must be a self-starter who works well under pressure and enjoys juggling several projects at once.  Highly developed organizational skills are vital, as is an ability to work as part of a team on some projects and independently on others. Perfectly fluent English, excellent writing skills in English and strong computer skills are required. A good command of French is preferred.

The International Chamber of Commerce is seeking

Chairman
of the International Court of Arbitration

Founded in 1923, the ICC International Court of Arbitration has built up unique experience as an international arbitration and dispute resolution centre. It has administered more than 15,500 arbitration cases involving business disputes between parties from all over the world in virtually every sphere of international commercial activity. The Court is based in Paris and is comprised of members from eighty eight different countries and independent territories.

The Chairman of the Court is an independent consultant to the ICC and is elected by one of the ICC’s governing bodies, the World Council, on the recommendation of the Executive Board of the ICC. The Chairman of the Court is responsible for the proper functioning of the ICC Court as a decision making body under the ICC Rules of Arbitration, setting the policies and practices of the Court. The Chairman of the ICC Court, together with the Secretary General of the ICC Court, is also responsible for defining the general strategy of ICC with regard to its dispute resolution services.

Candidates for the position should ideally have the following profile:

• be a person of impeccable academic credentials and be a pre-eminent figure in international arbitration.

• be familiar with the conduct of International Commercial Arbitration and in particular ICC arbitration.

• Able to work efficiently in English and have a good working knowledge of French. Fluency in other languages would be highly desirable.

• Willing to travel extensively.

• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be an effective public speaker.

• be available to attend sessions of the ICC Court in Paris at least twice a month.

The chairmanship of the Court is a demanding position but not full time allowing candidates to maintain other professional activities.

Fondée en 1923, la Cour internationale d'arbitrage de la Chambre de Commerce Internationale dispose d'une expérience sans égal en matière de résolution des différends et notamment d'arbitrage. Le candidat à ce poste devra idéalement avoir les qualités suivantes :

• posséder des qualifications universitaires irréprochables et être une éminente personnalité en matière d’arbitrage international.

• avoir la connaissance de la conduite de procédures d’arbitrage international et en particulier des arbitrages CCI.

• être capable de travailler efficacement en anglais et avoir un bon niveau en français lui permettant de travailler également dans cette langue. La maîtrise d’autres langues est vivement souhaitée.

• être disposé à effectuer de nombreux déplacements professionnels.

• avoir d’excellentes qualités relationnelles et de communication ainsi qu’être un orateur efficace.

• être disponible pour participer aux sessions de la Cour à Paris au moins deux fois par mois.

La présidence de la Cour est un poste exigeant bien que ne requérant pas un travail à temps plein, laissant ainsi aux candidats la possibilité de poursuivre d’autres activités professionnelles.
