ICC and governments - a partnership for progress

The International Chamber of Commerce is the world business organization. Through its national committee network, ICC groups thousands of member companies and business organizations from over 130 countries and all economic sectors. ICC's promotes an open international trade and investment system and the market economy worldwide.

National committees maintain constructive working relations with government authorities at ministerial level. Often they have direct access to the head of state or government on key international business issues affecting the national economy.

ICC is a totally separate entity from the chamber of commerce movement, although it has a special department dedicated to chamber of commerce issues.

ICC provides essential business services, foremost among them those of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the world's leading institution of its kind.

Why governments work with ICC national committees

ICC is the most representative business organization on international business issues, speaking for every sector in all parts of the world.

The existence of a flourishing ICC national committee in a country is a positive signal to investors that business enterprise is welcome there.

ICC membership is a unifying force for the national private sector and provides government with a one-stop shop on international business policy.

Governments can benefit from the international expertise of specialized ICC working bodies on an array of business, financial and economic issues.

ICC is recognized by the United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations as their preferred dialogue partner on issues affecting business worldwide.

ICC rules and standards are used in countless business transactions throughout the world every day.
