XIVth Conference on International Audiovisual Law
11-12 May 2000, Palais des Festivals, Cannes

Invitation Programme Speakers Practical information Registration

On the occasion of the 53rd International Cannes Film Festival and the 41st Cannes Market, as well as under the auspices of the Centre National de la Cinmatographie.

Subject

Diffusion and distribution of films:

The protection of rights and a framework of issues in the digit

Objective

As digital technology in cinema continues the breaking down of borders between nations and redefines the rules of distribution, the necessity of a worldview on cinematographic issues and standards becomes apparent. Rights need to be defined and secured in a consistent, transparent and decisive manner, in order to efficiently fight against the threat of digital piracy.

This conference will provide a forum through which industry leaders, producers, directors, financiers and lawyers can come together and point the way forward toward a workable business plan for the cinematographic industry in the digital age.

Discussion topics will be of particular interest to entertainment and audiovisual lawyers, production and distribution executives, as well as to financiers investing in films.
