Objectives
The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale
of Goods (CISG) has come into force in 63 countries since its completion
in 1980, and covers more than 70% of the exchange of goods worldwide.
In 25 years, it has become a remarkable tool for international trade,
facilitating import and export exchanges by establishing a comprehensive
code of legal rules governing the formation of contracts for the international
sale of goods.
This conference will
examine to what extent this Convention has unified the sale of goods on
a global level. Some of the most renowned CISG experts will analyse case
law from the past 25 years both in state courts and arbitral practice.
Key issues tackled will include the Convention’s sphere of application,
possibilities for the parties to “opt out”, remedies provided,
rules of non-conformity and rules of interest on sums in arrears.
Who should attend?
All professionals involved in international trade of goods
With the participation
of the International Business Law Journal (IBLJ)
