The government and business community of Madagascar put their heads together to determine how to boost the country’s exports at a forum organized by ICC Madagascar last week.
The forum proved a great success with more than 1000 people attending. Addressing the closing ceremony, the President of Madagascar, Marc Ravalomanana, emphasized his wish to collaborate with ICC Madagascar to promote the country’s exports.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, ICC Secretary General Guy Sebban encouraged the Madagascan economic players to continue their efforts to improve exports. He stressed the essential role ICC plays in mobilizing world economic players and putting pressure on governments to bring the Doha round of trade negotiations to a successful conclusion, thereby creating opportunities for developing countries to increase their exports.
The forum also featured practical sessions on how ICC trade tools, such as Incoterms and model contracts, could facilitate exports.
