ICC reaffirms its support to trade and development at UN conference
Accra, Ghana, 30 April 2008
A few hours before the opening of the meeting of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, which took place from 20-25 April in Accra, Ghana, a select number of senior business and government delegates met in closed quarters to discuss the current global challenges facing the world. The food crisis, the rise of new forms of investment protectionism, climate change, the Millennium Development Goals and the emergence of the new South, were the key topics of discussion.

ICC to hold conference on data protection and processing
Paris, 17 April 2008  ICC and its Task Force on Privacy and Protection of Personal Data will host a conference entitled “A Global Perspective on Data Protection and Processing” on 28 May in Paris.

Analysts predict major economic impact from Internet ‘doomsday’ scenario
Paris, 17 March 2008  Economists worldwide say that a one day “blackout” of the Internet would have a major impact on the global economy, according to a survey conducted by ICC and the Ifo Institute for Economic Research and released today.

ICC makes recommendations for ICANN’s transition
Paris, 27 February 2008  ICC’s Commission on E-Business, IT and Telecoms and its Task Force on Internet and Telecoms Infrastructure and Services have submitted global business views on the transition of the Internet domain name and addressing organization from the current United States government oversight to a private sector multi-stakeholder model of leadership.

Business outlines priorities for next Internet Governance Forum
Paris, 26 February 2008  In consultations regarding the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) today, ICC made a number of recommendations on how to strengthen the next IGF, which is scheduled to take place in India in December.

ICC celebrates data protection day
Paris, 25 January 2008  To make citizens more aware of their data protection rights, the Council of Europe and the European Commission are launching “Data Protection Day” on 28 January. The kickoff will include a series of events throughout Europe and North America.

New BASIS chair appointed
Paris, 23 January 2008  Subramaniam Ramadorai will this month take over as Chair of ICC’s initiative Business Action to Support the Information Society (BASIS).

Heitmann named new chair of ICC EBITT commission
Paris, 17 December 2007  Herbert Heitmann has assumed the role of Chair of the ICC Commission on E-business, IT and Telecoms (EBITT).
