As arbitration is fast becoming the preferred way to resolve cross-border business disputes, the ICC Institute of World Business Law is launching a series of ‘Arbitration Day’ training sessions starting next month. 

The first session, entitled “Hearing and Deliberation,” takes place 8 April at ICC headquarters in Paris.  Participants will be involved in a “real” mock arbitral hearing and “real” deliberation.

With a tribunal and an audience to enhance the realism of a session, Arbitration Day will show how an arbitral tribunal deliberates on procedural and substantive issues.  Two hearings will be held, the first on provisional measures and the second on the merits of a case. 

“I believe the real-life scenario we use in this training really sets it apart, “said Serge Lazareff, President of the Institute of World Business Law. “It is a unique opportunity for participants to gain hands-on training from experienced practitioners.”

The mock arbitral hearing provides participants with strategies and tactics needed to conduct an arbitration.  Limited to 50 participants to maximize interaction, the training will provide participants with a rare opportunity to interact with renowned arbitrators and counsel, all practitioners.

The second Arbitration Day to be held 26 May will treat cross-examination.

Arbitration Day counts towards vocational training credits in some countries.
