Biological diversity task force gets new leadership
Paris, 3 April 2008

Michael Hauser and Annik Dollacker are the new co-chairs of ICC’s Task Force on the Convention on Biological Diversity

Annik Dollacker, Head, International Affairs/Sustainability, Bayer Crop Science, and Michael Hauser, International Policy Director, Monsanto, have been appointed as the new co-chairs of ICC’s Task Force on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) under the ICC Environment and Energy Commission.

The task force focuses on all aspects of the CBD with broadest potential for private sector impact and coordinates business participation in industry-specific areas.

Mr Hauser also co-chairs the ICC Task Force on Access and Benefit Sharing under the ICC Commission on Intellectual Property. That task force works to ensure business messages on access to genetic resources and benefit sharing are conveyed to intergovernmental organizations and key government negotiators, including the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.

In February, ICC led a business delegation to the 13th Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) during a UNCBD meeting in Rome, where Ms Dollacker delivered an opening statement.

ICC will also play a key role in the upcoming ninth meeting of the UNCBD Conference of the Parties (COP 9) in Bonn, Germany from 19 to 30 May.
