ICC conference marks 10th year of arbitration rules
Paris, 28 March 2008

The ICC rules of arbitration have been used to successfully resolve thousands of disputes throughout the world.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ICC rules of arbitration this year, the ICC International Court of Arbitration will hold a high level conference in Paris on 23 April.

The ICC rules of arbitration are now a fixture in dispute resolution and have been used to successfully resolve thousands of disputes throughout the world. The event will look at the impact of the 1998 rules over the last decade and consider developments in the practice of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Topics discussed will be of interest to practicing lawyers, corporate counsel, arbitrators, mediators and other amicable dispute resolution specialists, business executives, academics, and professionals who have experience with the ICC rules of arbitration and dispute resolution methods. Topics will range from the procedure used to appoint ICC arbitrators to financial aspects of ICC arbitration.

Working groups led by renowned arbitrators and practitioners of ICC arbitration will focus on different aspects of the rules. Participants will exchange views on the application of the rules and make practical suggestions.

Leaders of the ICC Court will be among the keynote speakers, including: Pierre Tercier, Chairman, Robert Briner, Honorary Chairman, and Jason Fry, Secretary General, as well as former Secretaries General of the Court and Court members.

“In the space of a decade, ICC rules of arbitration have become a highly sought-after method of resolving international disputes. We are marking this important occasion with a conference to reflect on how these highly successful rules will remain indispensable,” said Mr Tercier.

Reports from the discussion and working groups will be given during the plenary sessions in English and French. The working sessions will be held in English only.

The conference can be credited towards vocational training in some countries.
