Filip de Ly

Professor de Ly is an expert in the fields of international business law, international contracts and international commercial arbitration. Besides his academic duties, Professor de Ly regularly acts as counsel for parties involved in international business problems or disputes. He also serves as an expert witness and arbitrator in international commercial arbitration cases.

Professor de Ly studied Law in Belgium, receiving his doctorate from the University of Ghent. As a Harvard Law School LLM graduate and former associate of the US law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, Professor de Ly now regularly acts as an expert witness and arbitrator in international commercial arbitration cases. He teaches the courses Settlement of Disputes in International Law, Contract Drafting as well as International Business Law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam School of Law. There, Professor de Ly holds a chair in the field of private international law and comparative law.
