Robert Couzin
Robert Couzin practices tax law with Couzin Taylor LLP, the allied tax law practice of Ernst & Young LLP in Canada.
Mr Couzin holds A.B. and A.M. degrees from the University of Chicago, where he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. After receiving his B.C.L. from the Faculty of Law of McGill University (Gold Medallist), he joined the Bar of Quebec in 1974 and the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1977. He is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
A past president of the International Fiscal Association (Canadian branch), Robert Couzin also served as a governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and vice-chair of the Fair Tax Commission of Ontario. He is currently a member of the IFA Permanent Scientific Committee, chair of the Taxation Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Tax Committee of the Business & Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD and the international tax advisory committee of the Canada Revenue Agency. He has been a lecturer in the law faculties of the University of Toronto, McGill University and the Osgoode Hall Law School.
Mr Couzin has spoken and written extensively on international and corporate taxation matters. He is the author of Corporate Residence and International Taxation, published in 2002 by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation and several dozen papers in publications of the Canadian Tax Foundation and other journals.
