World Chambers Competition
The World Chambers Competition was initiated as a means of giving international recognition to the most innovativeprojects recently undertaken by local, regional and national chambers of commerce from around the world.
The first World Chambers Competition was held during the 3rd World Chambers Congress in September 2003 in Quebec City attracted an impressive 65 entries from over 29 countries.
In 2011, WCF received 72 projects from over 50 countries, with 20 finalists presenting
their projects at the 7th World Chambers Congress in Mexico City, Mexico
Through the Competition, WCF encourages chamber excellence and dynamism while fostering information exchange and business development.
The next World Chambers Competition will be held as part of the 8th World Chambers Congress in Qatar, 23-25 April 2013.

20011 Winners
- Best Small Business Project: New South Wales (NSW) Business Chamber - Online Grpwth Program, a comprehensive, educational and coaching programme designed to help small businesses go online, and improve their web presence and e-business capabilities.
- Best International Project: Cantebury Employers' Chamber of Commerce - Recovery Cantebury, the role of a Chamber of Commerce when disaster strikes. Their project demonstrates the unique and vital role that a chamber of commerce can play to protecting and supporting the business community.
- Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project:Istanbul Chamber of Commercw – Ozimek. This project aims to preserve, develop and increase employment opportunities by enabling individuals to benefit from vocational and technical education institutions in Turkey.
- Best Unconventional Project: Cambridge Chamber of Commerce – Funny Money. The Cambridge Chamber believes that it is paramount to instill strong financial literacy values in the next generation of national and international leaders. Since its inception in 2005, the programme has been presented to over 400,000 high school children across Canada.
2009 Winners
- Best Small Business Project: Hamburg Chamber of Commerce for its dual vocational training for Madagascar;
- Best International Project: Torino Chamber of Commerce and Industry for launching
a marketing programme aimed to enhance the international visibility and
business opportunities of and for the Piemonte automotive cluster;
- Best Networking Project: Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Industry
for its post tsunami Chamber cooperation;
- Best Project for a Chamber in a developping country: Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry
for establishing the Izmir University of Economics;
- Best Unconventional Project: Oslo Chamber of Commerce for introducing the International Network of Norway to assist expats in the various aspects of settling into their new lives in Norway

2007 Winners
- Best International cooperation between Chambers: Confederation
of Brazilian Commercial and Business Associations together with Essen
Chamber of Arts and Crafts in Germany, which implemented the Programa
Capacitar Nordeste in the north-eastern region of Brazil.
- Best Skills Development Program:The
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh, which started a
training centre creating human resource development programmes to
assist SMEs with facing the challenges of globalization;
- Best New Membership Recruitment Project:Vancouver
Board of Trade, which leveraged its potential as the best networking
venue in the region, including writing a book on the subject, and
increased its membership by 30%;
- Best Unconventional Project:Federation
of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, which, following the
tsunami set up 10 regional help desks to assist businesses in getting
back on their feet
- Best Project for a Chamber in a Developing Country:Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chamber of Economy of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

for its creation of a knowledge management and document workflow system called e-Search;
- Best Unconventional Project: Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (Turkey)
for its project to brand the city of Gaziantep and attract foreign investment
