What is the difference between ICC & WCF?

The International Chamber of Commerce is the world business organization, the voice of world business, championing the global economy as a force for economic growth, job creation and prosperity. ICC activities cover a broad spectrum, from arbitration and dispute

resolution to making the case for open trade and the market economy system, business self-regulation, fighting corruption or combating commercial crime. ICC members include companies and corporations from all sectors from all around the world, business associations, with over 12% of ICC's members from the chamber of commerce community.

WCF is ICC's specialized division for its chamber members, providing a forum for this special interest group to work on projects and areas of mutual interest in the daily operations and affairs of a chamber of commerce.

Many chambers often have trade sectors as part of their membership structure. WCF can be seen in many ways as a “trade sector" of ICC chambers members.

What is a public law chamber? What is a private law chamber?

A public law chamber can be simply described as a chamber in which all companies and businesses in its area of activity are required under law to be members of the chamber. Such chambers are often regulated through Acts of Parliament.

Private law chambers are clearly recognized by their voluntary membership status, i.e a company chooses whether it wishes to be a member of the chamber. Private law chambers operate under less government legislation and the laws surrounding their establishment vary greatly from country to country.

My chamber would like to co-host the World Chambers Congress? What are the procedures to register our interest? How do we bid for a World Chambers Congress?

The chamber, in the first instance, should write officially to the WCF Chairman, submitting their registration of interest to host a World Chambers Congress. Bidding procedures and timetable for future World Chambers Congresses can be found on the webpages on this item. The chamber may also contact the WCF secretariat to learn more about the process.

I am looking for a directory of chambers of commerce. Does ICC WCF print such a publication?

With the development of web based solutions, WCF has chosen to focus its efforts in the maintenance of its chamber directory available at www.worldchambers.com

Printed chamber directories have been published by a variety of government and commercial organizations.

One of ICC's key international partners, UNCTAD, through its International Trade Center, prints annually a directory of business associations. Please go to

I would like to promote my business opportunities to the chambers of commerce and their member companies? Can ICC WCF distribute my business offer and provide lists of potentially interested companies?

Through its service, the World Chambers Network, ICC WCF has been promoting business opportunities throughout its chamber and membership network through the Global Business Exchange service (www.worldchambers.com). This service, operating since 1997, has a successful track record for generating quality trade leads and introductions.

ICC nor WCF provide lists of companies for promotional purposes.
