Pere Vicens

WCF Vice Chair 2006 -

Pere Vicens is currently a member of ICC's Executive Board and has been active at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Barcelona since 1961. As well as a member of the Plenary, he is also President of the Committee on Culture and Intellectual Property.

Pere is Chairman and CEO of "Editorial Vicens Vives", a leading publishers' of text books, dictionaries, atlas, cartography, foreign languages in Spain with owned subsidiaries in most Latin America Counties, as Argentina, Chile, Perú, Colombia and great presence in world markets including the USA. It is a family owned business which dates back to 1942.

Mr Pere Vicens as IPA President (International Publishers Association) in Geneva 2000-2004 has been attending the opening of most important International Book Fairs, meet with heads of State and delivered speeches in International Forums and Business Schools that can be consulted at the IPA web.

Graduated in Economic Sciences for the Barcelona University, with the highest degree, with post university studies at "La Sorbonne", Pere was a Professor of Economic Policy at Barcelona University (1961-1970) as well as is a Certified Public Accountant.

• Member of the Council of "Bosch i Gimpera Foundation" Barcelona University.
• Member of the Advisory Board of The Frankfurt Book Fair Fellowship programme.

• Member of the Council of "Charlemagne Institute for European Studies" of the International University of Catalonia.
• Member of the Governing Board of "Circulo del Liceo" (Opera Theater of Barcelona)
• Vice-president of AEDME (Spanish Association for Patronage )
• Member of the "UNITED NATIONS (UN) Interagency Task Force for the Literacy Decade"
• Chairman of "UNESCO'S Nomination Committee for "World Book Capital City".
