Planning underway for Fourth Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy
Paris, 6 December 2007

The global problem of counterfeiting and piracy will be addressed at the congress

Planning is underway for the Fourth Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy. With the cooperation and support of ICC through its Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy initiative, the gathering will take place in Dubai, UAE from 3-5 February 2008.

The congress has become the pre-eminent global forum for those involved in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy and this fourth round – jointly hosted by the World Customs Organization and Dubai Customs – marks the first time it will be held outside Europe.

Held over three days, the congress will permit more time for leaders from governments and business to discuss and promote solutions to the rampant global problem of counterfeiting and piracy, and to identify key actions required.

Anyone working on this important issue at the local, national, regional or global level – from the public or private sector – will not want to miss the opportunity to listen to experts from around the world, participate in the debate and influence the recommendations for future actions that will help shape the international enforcement agenda over the next few years.

The congress is being convened by the World Customs Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and Interpol and will feature exhibitors from around the world offering services to companies and governments dealing with the counterfeiting and piracy problem.

Other supporting non-governmental organizations representing the business sector include the International Trademark Association and the International Security Management Association.
