ICC
website now in Arabic
Paris,
23 February 2004
- In its first official venture outside the English language, the ICC
website is now available in Arabic.
All
of the ICC news stories, press releases, and links to ICC products and
services are now more easily accessible to the organization's growing
Arab world constituency.
The
Arabic version of the ICC website - www.iccarab.org
- is translated and maintained in its entirety by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
Organization (www.tagi.com).
"ICC's
website goes from strength to strength," said ICC Secretary General,
Maria Livanos Cattaui. "Now we can ensure that the good work and
vital services of the world business organization are more readily accessible
to our Arab-speaking members."
ICC's
membership in Arab countries continues to grow. During a special ceremony
in Dubai last week, ICC United Arab Emirates joined a growing list of
Arab countries with ICC national committees.
Local
guardian of the ICC Arabic website, the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization
(TAGO), already provides a similar translation service for the World Trade
Organization's official website.
TAGO
Chairman, and chair of ICC's Commission on E-Business, IT and Telecoms,
Mr Talal Abu Ghazaleh said his company has undertaken to translate the
ICC website into Arabic "to spread the good work of ICC".
"There
are so many ICC products and services which are not nearly as well known
in the Arab-speaking world as they should be," he said. "By
raising the profile of ICC in this part of the world, we hope to spread
the benefits of ICC membership to as many companies in the world as possible."
The
ICC Arabic website will be regularly updated to reflect the ever-changing
content of ICC's official, English-language website.
