at the Vienna Convention on Contracts
for the International Sale of Goods accepted the present text of the
Convention on the 11 April 1980 |
Paris,
8 June 2005
Twenty five years after being adopted, the United Nations Convention on
Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) will be the focus
of an ICC conference to take place later this month.
Prepared by the United
Nations Commission on International Trade Law, CISG is the uniform international
sales law of countries that accounts for over two-thirds of all world
trade. In 25 years it has become an indispensable tool for international
trade, facilitating import and export exchanges by establishing a comprehensive
code of legal rules governing the formation of contracts for the international
sale of goods. Since its adoption on 11 April 1980, CISG has come into
force in 63 countries.
Any professional involved
in the international trade of goods will find this conference informative
and worthwhile. Renowned CISG experts will address the conference and
examine to what extent the Vienna Convention has unified the sale of goods
on a global level.
The ICC conference
will analyse case law from the past 25 years both in state courts
and arbitral practice
and will include sessions on the following subjects:
- Scope and "opting
out"
- Similarities and
differences in case law in respect of non-conformity
- Similarities and
differences in case law in respect of remedies
- Similarities and
differences in case law in respect of interest rates
- CISG and conflicts
of law
- CISG and conflicts
of jurisdiction
- Application of
the CISG by arbitrators
Chairman of the ICC
Institute of World Business Law Serge Lazareff will chair the process.
