ICC Chairman Yong Sung Park met with Slobodan Milosavljevic, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia on 11 July, and Patrice Motsepe, President of Chambers of Commerce and Industry South Africa (Chamsa) on 20 July, during their respective visits to Korea.

During the meeting with the President of the Serbian Chamber, Mr Park pledged ICC's utmost support to help the Serbian Chamber assume a central role in Serbia's economic development and recommended the modernization and reform of the chamber system in Serbia. He also encouraged the Chamber to play an active role in speeding up the privatization and the overall transition of the Serbian economy and society.

Mr Milosavljevic, who was appointed as President of the Serbian Chamber in December 2004, expressed his willingness to make the Serbian Chamber a key promoter of the economy and a partner of government.

During the meeting with the President of Chamsa, Mr Park reiterated his thanks for the best efforts that Chamsa had shown to ensure the success of the 4th World Chambers Congress in Durban. Mr Motsepe reconfirmed his commitment to ensuring Chamsa plays a more proactive role in spearheading the economic growth of the southern African region.

Mr Park and Mr Motsepe also exchanged ideas on various ICC issues, particularly regarding ICC's role in promoting the empowerment of more small and medium businesses in Africa.

With an entire spectrum of economic organizations as its constituents, Chamsa is the largest economic organization in South Africa and was a staunch supporter of the 4th World Chambers Congress last June.
