The vital role of transportation in Asia's economic development will be highlighted at this year's ICC Asia regional conference in the Thai capital on 27 - 28 November.

Supported by the Transportation Institute of Chulalongkorn University and the United Nations Economic and Social Comission for Asia and the Pacific, the conference will cover the full range of transportation issues confronting Asian business.

One session will be devoted to heightened security requirements and the part more effective transport facilitation can play in achieving security objectives. Speakers will explain how new technologies are being fitted into today's security-conscious environment.

Another session will tackle the investment needs of the transport sector as it plays its part in regional economic growth. Speakers will discuss access to the market for provision of transport services and the key role of foreign direct investment in transport infrastructure development.

Speakers at the opening session include ICC's Korean Vice-Chairman Yong Sung Park, Chairman of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction. And Kiat Sittheeamorn, Chairman of ICC Thailand.

Other speakers include Sumate Thanthusanit, Chairman of the Thai Shipowners' Association and Johannes Fritzen, President of Volkwagen Transport, who chairs ICC's Commission and Logistics.
